What do Stella Artois and Wimbledon have in common you may ask? Not a lot on the face of it. But we dug around in their pasts and found out that both brands had pretty humble beginnings. In fact, when Wimbledon started way back in 1877, only 200 people showed up! So, to celebrate Stella Artois’ sponsorship of Wimbledon 2016, we decided to tell the story of these humble beginnings. We created The Time Portal, an immersive theatre experience.
Using cleverly devised sets and actors in period clothing, we sent people back in time to experience Victorian London, where they were taken on a physical journey through its smoggy streets in search of the very first Wimbledon.
The experience was created with Olivier Award-nominated theatre troupe Les Enfants Terribles.
